Introduction to Civil Engineering Surveying || Basic civil Engineering Surveying || Importance of Civil Engineering srveying.

In Civil Engineering, surveying plays a very important role. It used in all types of Civil Engineering
projects such as roads, railways, sewers, housing schemes, and buildings.

        Introduction to Survey

Surveying:-

Surveying is the science of determining the relative positions of points, above
or beneath the surface of the earth by means of direct and indirect measurements of distance direction, and elevation.

Purposes of Survey:-

To prepare a map of the earth above or below sea level.
To establish boundaries of private and public lands.
Measure area and land with the help of survey.
To prepare uo to date plane of the area .
To mark suitable site or route for any building.

Principle  of surveying:-

There are two fundamental principle of surveying

To work from whole to the part .
To locate posiion of the new station.

 Method of surveying:-

Following method are used for survey:-
1) Traversing
2) Triangulation
3) Trilateration

 Surveying Instruments:-

  • 1) Alidade.
  • 2) Alidade table.
  • 3) Cosmolabe.
  • 4) Dioptra.
  • 5) Dumpy level.
  • 6) Engineer's chain.
  • 7)Geodimeter.
  • 8)Graphometer.

Work of surveyor:-

The work of the surveyor is to determine height and distance, setout building, sewer,
drains and road, determine area and volume of figure and to prepare finishing plane
or map etc.
