Leveling in survey

levelling

Leveling:-

                      ·        Leveling is the process of determining the horizontal and vertical positions of points on a plane.

                     ·         Leveling is measuring the slope or height of a surface, whether in horizontal or vertical directions. Horizontal leveling is accomplished mainly by means of levels, while vertical leveling uses a total station

Types of leveling:-

There are two types of leveling:-

Horizontal leveling, which measures the slope of a surface, and Vertical leveling, which measures the height of an object. The most common kind of leveling is horizontal leveling, which can be done with either transit or a total electronic station.

Purpose of leveling:-

·        It is used in surveying to establish a high degree of accuracy in map-making and construction projects.

·        Leveling is used to determine the height of a point on the earth's surface relative to a plane.

Leveling Instrument:-

The most common leveling instruments are a spirit level, water level, and laser level. Spirit levels use bubbles in liquid to create an even surface that can be read by an observer. Water levels use water in a tube and are most accurate when they are filled with distilled water. Laser levels work by measuring the distance between two points using lasers and then calculating their height difference.
